13/10/02 Europe had a sample of Aboriginal art at an
exhibition during a trade mission to Berlin on October 13. The exhibition
featured North Queensland artist Rosella Namok and Curator Ron Hurley joined in presenting the exhibition including twelve paintings by artists from the Lockhart River on eastern Cape York Peninsula. Five of the paintings are by Fiona Foley, whose traditional country is the World Heritage listed Fraser Island. The sculptures - traditional wooden pieces transformed into bronze and aluminium castings in Brisbane - are the work of artists from Aurukun, on the western side of Cape York.
